My Mosin-Nagant

4 Attachment(s)
FINALLY I've put it all together. The bolt has been sandblasted and the actual bolt handle has been moved to the side to accommodate for the scope mount(which i think is the best on the market). The trigger has had some work done and feels 20,532 times better. The rifle itself has been thoroughly cleaned, while the ugly wood has been discarded, etc, etc.

Next up, a cool lookin/functional muzzle break.

And because this thread would be worthless without pics...

No, much too busy these days. Yet practice is just as important as the weapon...

And every time I see it, I just wanna go out and shoot!

Why not just buy a Remington 700? They're something like $600 at Walmart.

Nie work! This has to be the nicest looking MN I've ever seen. I'm restoring a Remington 1917 .30-06. Hope it ends up as nice as your M-N,

Re: My Mosin-Nagant

I've been thinking of adding a MN to the collection just because the ammo is still cheap. What's your total investment look like so far? ($)

Dude. That is an awesome rifle... I've been thinking of building a modernized Mosin... and I think you've convinced me!

You should put a Barrett-style muzzle brake on it.. hehe

One reason is the Mosin Nagants and 7.62x54r ammo are very inexpensive. You could buy three Nagants, 2200 rounds of ammo, and have it shipped to you for that same $600.

PLegacy, nice looking gun!

Where can I get this deal or close to it? I thought that ammo is getting expensive.

I did a quick search at jgsales.com for that deal. To my area, it would be about $645 including shipping. Take off 440 rounds of ammo and your under $600 again.

Cause that Mosin got class! That particular rifle has most likely been an active part of at least two wars. The Remington while a good gun, it's just a piece of plastic and a barrel.
Nice job on the rebuild, now you have to find a spot where you can shoot a couple of miles LOL!

I've been looking at them and they sure are pretty. Are they worth having as a back up bolt action, considering the need to store another type of ammo. I know the .54 is common, but still gotta store it.

Why buy composite when you can buy wood. We call that one the welfare model. Here's what I was talking about http://www.remington.com/products/fi...el_700_BDL.asp

I appreciate the positive replies. This will stay in the familiy for a very long time and IS my first long distance shooter. It will be some time before I test it out. I'm looking for 300+ yards later on, but 100 will do for now.

MTNMAN is right when he says that I got it for the class!
